
Dimapur, January 2: 37 Assam Rifles apprehended two persons at Chumukedima on December 28. According to a press release issued by AR, on receiving information regarding extortion and transshipment of weapons by Naga group cadres, troops of 37 Assam Rifle established a mobile check post in Chumukedima and apprehended the two with extorted money worth Rs. 1,50,585/-. The duo claimed to be Lt Imtisanen Walling (35) of NSCN (IM), resident of Mon district and Syed Safi Ahmed (26) an “Over Ground” worker, resident of Golaghat (Assam), the release said. The two along with recovered items have been handed over to Diphupar Police Station.
In another incident, in coordination with Nagaland Police, a mobile check post of 37 Assam Rifles apprehended Samuel Marak (36), resident of Dhansiripar at Kukidolong. The individual was involved in abduction of a truck driver in Dimapur and was being tracked by Nagaland Police. The individual was handed over to Nagaland Police, the note stated.
