Kohima, October 7 (MExN): 28 Assam Rifles organised awareness rally on HIV & AIDS in Tseminyu on October 5. According to a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North), 170 students and 7 teachers of Don Bosco School and 5 members of Kripa Foundation, Tseminyu participated in the rally to create awareness on effects of HIV & AIDS, especially among the youths of the State. The rally was carried out from Don Bosco School to Zeshinyu, New Town and back. In the end, participants took a pledge to spread maximum awareness on prevention of HIV & AIDS, the release said.
Meanwhile, 36 Assam Rifles flagged off a National Integration Tour from Dimapur on October 5. The aim of the tour is to give exposure to the young students of the State about the history, culture and developments in other parts of the nation, the PRO said in another press release. The touring group comprising of 20 students - 13 boys, seven girls - and two teachers from various schools of Jalukie, Nagaland will visit Delhi, Amritsar, and Chandigarh over the next ten days. Brigadier Shibaji Das, Commander, 6 Sector Assam Rifles interacted with the students and educated them on various aspects to be kept in mind during the journey. He also emphasized on utilizing the experience to imbibe the values of people from other parts of the country, the release added.
In Pungro Town, 7 Assam Rifles organised a weapon display programme for all schools and villagers of Pungro on October 5. A total of 500 students from six schools witnessed the display, AR press release informed.
