Assam Rifles conduct civic action activities

Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): Battalions of the Assam Rifles in Nagaland conducted various civic action activities across the state on July 11, the PRO, HQ IGAR (N) informed in a press release. 

Free Medical Camp: In New Shena village under Zunheboto district, the Zunheboto Battalion conducted a free medical camp under OP Sadbhavana. 

The medical camp was conducted with an aim of providing medical and COVID-19 related assistance to the villagers and also make them aware of major ailments under the supervision of medical staff of Assam Rifles, the release stated.

During the camp, the villagers were provided with free medical consultation, medicines and health awareness education.

In addition, villagers were also educated on common diseases and its causes and efforts were made to make them aware of the importance of timely vaccination, routine medical checkups and personal hygiene and sanitation. 

Villagers appreciated the efforts and conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for conducting medical camp and addressing their urgent medical needs by providing them medical aid during the testing time of COVID -19, the release stated. 

Interactive session: The Ghaspani Battalion organised an Interactive Milap Session with civil society organisations at Medziphema under Dimapur district as part of its outreach efforts.

President and members of Medziphema Town Mechü Krotho (MTMK, Chakhroma Public Organisation, and Gaon Bura Union took part in the session where discussions on the prevailing security situation, COVID-19 pandemic, emergent need for vaccination as well as youth empowerment and employment avenues for youth and women were held.

As per the press release, proactive initiatives being undertaken by the Assam Rifles towards sustainable empowerment of the Nagas were also deliberated upon by the Commandant, Assam Rifles Battalion.  

On behalf of all the participants, MTMK President Akhoto Kuotsu expressed gratitude and appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles with assurance of utmost cooperation and synergy in fructification of the said initiatives for empowerment and development of the region, the release stated. 

COVID vaccination and awareness drive: Meanwhile in Kiphire district, the Kiphire Battalion assisted the District Administration of Kiphire in organizing a COVID-19 vaccination drive at Kiphire town on July 11.

 The event was conducted in collaboration with the District Task Force and approximately 150 residents of places in and around Kiphire town were vaccinated. “The local population expressed their gratitude for this Samaritan effort by the sentinels of the north east,” the release stated.
