Assam Rifles conduct cleanliness, afforestation drives

Peren, May 19 (MExN): 36 Assam Rifles conducted a mass cleanliness drive at Heningkunglwa village, Peren district on May 16. The event was conducted as part of the ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’, a defence release stated. During the cleanliness program various activities including mass cleaning of roadside areas, cleaning of bus stops, public places etc. were conducted by the troops of Assam Rifles along with police representatives and local populace of Heningkunglwa village. The event was attended by a total of 53 local and youths of Heningkunglwa village, the release informed.

Afforestation drive

The 36 Assam Rifles also organised a plantation drive with locals of Tening village in Peren district on May 13. According to an Assam Rifles release, the aim of the event was to spread awareness amongst locals about the importance of nature and to motivate them to achieve the mission of “Green Tening, Clean Tening”. Approximately 500 saplings of various plants including mangoes and oranges were planted by locals and Assam Rifles personnel.

Zunheboto youths trained for recruitment rally

5 Assam Rifles flagged off local youth of Zunheboto district to participate in the upcoming recruitment rally in Kohima on May 16. A total of 61 youth from Zunheboto have registered for the recruitment rally which is scheduled to be held from May 18 to 23 in Kohima. The Assam Rifles conducted a five-week pre-recruitment training for 42 local youth providing them requisite training for the recruitment rally, a press release informed.
