Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted lectures in different parts of Nagaland recently. 9 Assam Rifles organised an AIDS awareness campaign in Chizami on July 15. The Company Commander of Chizami gave a lecture on the menace of AIDS and educated youths and children of the town. Apart from lecture, leaflets were also distributed to the locals of Chizami Town, stated a press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (N). Posters and banners were also placed in the town to educate local populace and spread awareness on AIDS. The Assam Rifles informed that such kind of awareness programme will be continuously conducted in the town in future too. In Shamator village, 15 Assam Rifles organized an awareness camp on ‘Drugs Free Nagaland’ at Junior High School on July 15. The main motive of the camp was to provide knowledge about narcotics, drugs, tobacco, addiction and their negative impact on physical and mental health, said the PRO in another press release. Altogether, 45 persons attended the camp. They were impressed upon to create awareness among their kith & kin about the social menace. Meanwhile, 32 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on the recruitment process for Army and Assam Rifles at Samaguri village, Dimapur on July 15. According to the PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the aim behind the event was to provide awareness about opportunities in armed forces and motivate youth to join the armed forces. Procedure of recruitment, eligibility criteria and service benefits applicable to armed forces were highlighted during the lecture, which was attended by 48 youth along with the GB and Chairman of Samaguri village.
