
Dimapur, June 16 (MExN): Assam Rifles (AR) conducted various activities across Nagaland on account of International Yoga day, World Blood Donor’s day and laying of wreath for fallen comrade.
A press release received here stated that the AR organised a yoga session for students of SFS School, Medziphema and at Athibung Town, Peren District in run up to International Yoga Day. A total of 150 students and 10 faculty members were part of the yoga session at SFS school Medziphema.
At Govt Higher Secondary School, Singrijan, Dimapur, the forces conducted a painting competition for the students on occasion of celebration of 10th International Day of Yoga on June 15. The event witnessed an attendance of 70 students and teachers along with the troops.
Meanwhile in conjunction with Voluntary Blood Donor's Association, the AR organised a blood donation camp on World Blood Donor's Day Kohima, on June 14. Among the donors were students, civilians, one Officer, Junior Commissioned Officer and twenty five other ranks from Assam Rifles.
The AR also conducted a wreath laying ceremony at Unit War Memorial to honour Rabindra Nath Modak, who died on June 14, 2018. The ceremony was attended by all ranks of the battalion wherein the attendees were briefed on how Rifleman Modak displayed conspicuous bravery, indomitable resolve, grit, determination and selflessness beyond the call of duty and made the supreme sacrifice in the true tradition of the force. The battalion also reached out to the next of kin of late Modak and conveyed their forever gratitude and respect to the fallen brethren.
