Assam Rifles conduct various activities across Nagaland

Kohima, August 22 (MExN): Different battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted various activities across Nagaland in the recent past, an official release informed.       

The PRO, HQ IGAR (N)’s release informed that the activities, among others, included reaching out to senior citizen, medical camp, JCB assistance as well as Raksha Bandhan celebration.

Mokokchung Battalion: The battalion reached out to the elders on the occasion of World Senior Citizen Day on August 21 in Mon, Longleng and Mokokchung districts.

During the events, the role of elders as the backbone of the society was acknowledged while their  enormous responsibility in ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region were highlighted, the release said. 

Jalukie Battalion: In collaboration with PHC, Athibung, the battalion conducted a medical camp cum vaccination drive at Old Beisumpui village, Peren on August 22. 

The medical authority approached Assam Rifles for the vaccination drive in Old Beisumpui and the battalion provided assistance in terms of medical staff and administrative support, the release said. 

A total of 119 individuals (39 males, 58 females and 22 children) benefited from the medical camp cum vaccination drive, it added.
Meanwhile, the release informed that the battalion was blessed with the visit of sisters from Heraka community to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at Heningkunglwa village and Tening Town under  Peren district on August 22.

Tasile Zeliang, a renowned author and ascetic of Heraka community, along with other sisters expressed their regards for the relentless service and dedication of security forces with a song as part of bigger family for enforcing peace and development, it added. 

Kiphire Battalion: The battalion assisted Pokhpur Village in clearing of multiple road blockades due to landslides on the village roads by providing them JCB on August 22. 

Due to incessant rains in the past few days, the road from remote village of Pokhpur to Kiusam Junction and further to Pungro and Kiphire were heavily slushed/blocked due to landslides which caused road blocks at multiple locations, the release informed. 

Accordingly,  the village council of Pokhpur approached Assam Rifles and it  responded immediately responded provided the JCB held with the Thongsonyu COB of Kiphire Battalion, it added.
