Assam Rifles conducts awareness lectures

Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have been conducting a series of lectures on ‘HIV/AIDS and Drug Free Nagaland’ across the state of Nagaland.  

The AR’s Phek Battalion conducted a lecture cum awareness programme on ‘Drug Free Nagaland’ at Kangjang village, Phek district on May 4 during which the different types of drugs and repercussions were discussed. The locals were also educated as to how Intravenous (IV) Drugs abuse can lead to HIV/ AIDS and why IV drug abusers are highly prone to contracting HIV/ AIDS. The villagers were also advised to take the drug addicts to the rehabilitation centre at Phek district. A total of 24 villagers attended the awareness programme.  

Similar programmes were also held in New Chumukedima village, Dimapur on May 4 and at Tuli on May 5.
