Kohima, December 6 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have conducted various activities across Nagaland in the recent past. 

An official release from the PRO HQ IGAR (North) informed that it included lectures, meetings with people, movie nights, volleyball matches, and other activities.

Among others, Lt Gen P C Nair, Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR), met the oldest surviving Centenarian veteran of his force at an event organized by the local Assam Rifles Battalion at Mokokchung.

Hav Mering Ao, who is now 104 years old, is the oldest surviving Gallantry award winner of Assam Rifles, the release said. 
He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his gallant act in the year 1960 by the President of India. 

Meanwhile, the DGAR also met the officials of Civil Society Organizations  (CSOs)and local villagers at Avakhung village on December 2, on the Indo-Myanmar border.

During this interaction, the CSO officials, local village heads, and the native tribal villagers all welcomed the General Officer and expressed their profound gratitude towards Assam Rifles for their role and selfless duty in maintaining peace and harmony in the region, the release said. 

Lt Gen Nair also visited the last and farthest Company Operating Base of Assam Rifles located in Avakhung, where he was briefed about the history and current security situation in the region by the company commander of the AR post. 

DGAR also interacted with the local village guards of Avakhung village and lauded their efforts towards maintaining peace in the village and their area, which is in very close proximity to the Indo-Myanmar border. 

On December 2, the DGAR also visited Chieswema Garrison, Kohima district, Nagaland, where he was updated on the prevailing security situation at the Indo Myanmar Border as well as the socio-political dynamics in Southern Nagaland. 

The DGAR also visited Capt Kenguruse Centre of Excellence and Wellness, where he motivated all 37 students to follow the path of their predecessors who have given a 100% result the previous year.

Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organized an Annual Day Function of Assam Rifles Public School at Kohima, Nagaland, on November 30. The event was graced by the Chief Guest Vibha Lakhera, Wife of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North). 

The event showcased an array of talents, including cultural performances, academic recognitions, and special presentations by students, the IGAR release informed. 

On December 2, the Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on Sainik School Entrance Examination at Thongsonyu in Noklak district. 

The aim of the event was to make them aware regarding the modalities of AISSEE and encourage parents to send their wards to Sainik School, the release said. The Assam Rifles hosted an enchanting animation movie night for the children of Chenmoho Village, Mon District, Nagaland.

The event was aimed at creating a memorable experience for the young audience, bringing the community together for a night of animated wonder and entertainment, the release said.
