Kohima, May 12 (MExN): A major forest fire that spread between villages Waphar Shamator village under Shamator district on May 10 was brought under control with the help of the Assam Rifles, an official release informed.
A team of Assam Rifles was deployed to extinguish the fire and prevent a serious accident which could have resulted in loss of life and property, informed a press release from the PRO HQ IGAR (N). The villagers and district administration appreciated the Assam Rifles for its assistance, it added.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles Bn under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) also organised Security Meet with GBs and GPM of Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on May 12.
The meeting was organised with an aim to sensitise them on prevailing security situation in present environment and also to enhance the co-operation & synergy between Assam Rifles and local populace, the release informed.
A total of 14 GBs, 5 GPCs and 7 GPMs from 19 villages of Changlang District attended the meeting.
The Assam Rifles also celebrated International Nurses' Day at District Hospital, Khonsa 12 with the attendance of 30 staff nurses.
During the celebration, every Nurse was provided with a nursing kit comprising of essential items required for safe nursing practices, PRO HQ IGAR (N) release added.
