DIMAPUR, JANUARY 16 (MExN): The Assam Rifles informed that on January 13, based on specific intelligence, troops from 21 Assam Rifles apprehended four uniformed cadres of NSCN (K) from a safe house in Alahoto Colony at Zunheboto town. According to a press note issued by Lt Col AS Chauhan PRO, IGAR (N), these cadres were armed with two AK - 47 Rifles with magazines and 33 rounds, two 7.62MM Pistols (One each of Japanese and Chinese Make) with 09 rounds, Stamp of GRPN/NSCN (K) and tax collection books. The press note stated that this apprehension by 21 AR once again proved the gross violation of CFGR by the factions who have no consideration for the prevailing peace and harmony in the region.
“This also goes against the repeated requests by the local populace to keep the villages and towns free from the armed cadres”, the PRO stated.
The press note stated that this timely action by the Assam Rifles has averted a major plot of Inter Faction Clash prior to the elections in which many innocent lives could have been lost. The Cadres along with the weapons were handed over to the Police Station at Zunheboto.
