MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 29 (MExN): Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, launched the “Breaking The Silence” campaign in Mokokchung on August 29. The event focused on raising awareness about mental health and substance abuse among young people, encouraging open dialogue and providing them with skills to promote wellness and positive change in their communities.
The campaign featured Kenie Ritse, Miss Northeast 2023, and Hikali Achumi, Miss Nagaland 2022, who collaborated with Assam Rifles through the ‘KRIPA, ACTS Foundation’ and the ‘Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland.’
Colonel Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant of the 12 Assam Rifles, highlighted the importance of addressing issues like mental health and substance abuse to protect local communities. The campaign saw participants from various sectors, including members of Assam Rifles, civil authorities, educators, and students from colleges and schools in Mokokchung district.
During the event, Kenie Ritse spoke about mental health and stress management, particularly during and after exams, to help students handle academic pressures more effectively. Hikali Achumi led a pledge for a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India) initiative.
The “Breaking The Silence” campaign aims to encourage open discussions on mental health, debunking myths around substance abuse, and offering support to those in need.
