Assam Rifles launches Yanthong Volleyball Cup at Noklak

NOKLAK, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): Assam Rifles launched the Yangthong Cup at Noklak on Wednesday to honour the last surviving Village Guard Gallantry award winner, L/ Hav Yangthong Pangsha, a recipient of Ashok Chakra Cl III for valiantly defending Pangsha Villagers against Naga Rebels in 1957. 

According to a press release from the Assam Rifles, the volleyball tournament is a first of its kind having mixed team of soldiers and locals representing various remote corners of Noklak district. 

By intertwining the legacy of a hero with aspirations of the youth, Assam Rifles remain committed to foster a culture of bravery, patriotism, and sportsmanship amongst future generations, the press release stated.

Yangthong Cup which began on December 13 will culminate on December 15. A total of 5 teams are participating in the tournament.
