
Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): The martyrdom of former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi (August 20, 1944 –May 21, 1991) is remembered with the death anniversary being observed as Anti-Terrorism Day across India. Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) observed Anti-Terrorism day on May 20 at Kohima, Chieswema, Kiphire, Jessami and Mokokchung. A defence press release stated that the objective behind observance of anti-terrorism day is to wean away the youth from terrorism and the cult of violence by highlighting the suffering of common people and showing as to how it is prejudicial to national interest. On the occasion, the Assam Rifles also organised various events including lectures, pledge ceremonies and motivational talks in colleges.
