Kiphire, January 31 (MExN): 7 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized a medical camp and free health checkup in Pungro Town for the people of Pungro sub-division on January 29. 483 patients comprising 175 men, 206 women and 102 children were treated by the doctors, informed a press release from Assam Rifles. In addition, 15 children were administered polio drops as it was also the day of pulse polio drive. Local administration also rendered support of two civil doctors to attend to the patients along with the Medical Officer of the Battalion.
Meanwhile, a free medical camp was also conducted at Chukitong in Wokha district by 28 Assam Rifles for the people of the village and nearby areas on January 30. A total of 232 people – 74 men, 107 women and 51 children – benefitted from the camp, where free medicines were also provided, informed Assam Rifles in a press release. Apart from the check up, the people were also educated on topics like timely vaccination, personal hygiene and sanitation and AIDS awareness through a small lecture cum workshop on health and hygiene. Assistance was also provided by District Administration for smooth conduct of the camp.
