Assam Rifles organizes ex-servicemen rally in Kohima

Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) conducted an Ex-Servicemen Rally for ex-service men of Assam Rifles of all districts of Nagaland at Kohima on January 30.
This rally aims to reach out to the ex-service men, Veer Naris, widows and their next of kins for their comprehensive welfare assistance in resolving their grievances.
During the rally, an endeavour was made to provide a variety of medical facilities to the ex-service men and address their grievances related to their pension and welfare schemes.
The rally has also provided an opportunity to socialise and ex-service men rejuvenate their association with the force.
The events in the rally included; stalls manned by representatives of Unit Pay Account Office, Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen Association (ARESA), State Bank of India, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank to enable the ESMs to access their services.
Other stalls put up at the rally included; State Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Department of Horticulture, department of agriculture, Kohima District Legal Services Authority, Mobile Sim link stall Reliance Jio, Adhaar card and Pan card, Canteen Stores Department and Field Post Office were also established to provide on the spot facilities and educate the ex-servicemen about finance/investment schemes, opportunities and apprise them of employment avenues for themselves and their dependents.
The rally also witnessed a grievances cell outlet for registration & providing assistance for on the spot redressal of outstanding grievances.
A medical check-up camp also set up wherein medical facilities of ENT, Eye, Ortho, Gynaecology and Dental were made available with the help of specialists and free medicines were also distributed to the ex-servicemen.
Maj. Gen. P. C. Nair, AVSM, YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (N) addressed the rally.
He said that the rally aim to establish a single platform to address all the grievances of the ARESM, enable them to meet one another and seek a feedback on measures that Assam Rifles could take to take care of their welfare.
Pipe band display, a Battle of Kohima corner, a weapon display stall and facilitation of Veer Naris and disabled soldiers were other highlights of the event.
Wheel chairs, hearing aids, walking stick, sewing machine were also distributed.
Veer Naris, widows and ESMs were also felicitated with blankets and shawls on the occasion.
Further, the rally provided an apt opportunity for Ex-Servicemen to interact with the personal of IGAR (N), the pension and record officers from DGAR and availed services of the specialists and doctors.
A total of 3 Veer Naris, 123 widows, 279 ex-servicemen and 164 dependents attended the Rally.
It may be recalled that in May 2019, IGAR (N) had conducted a first ever combined Army and Assam Rifles Rally which witnessed attendance of about 400 Army ESM and ARESM along with Veer Naris and their dependents.
