Dimapur, August 25 (MExN): As part of the ongoing crackdown to prevent illegal activities in the state, Assam Rifles troops in Mokokchung and Wokha apprehended three individuals in separate operations on August 23 and 24.
A defence release informed on Tuesday that Assam Rifles along with Police representative launched an operation based on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities in the Monsenyimiti general area under Mokokchung district on August 24.
One person, identified as Naresh Tanti was apprehended along with 99 cases of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) amounting to Rs 4 lakh and a Mahindra Bolero pickup bearing registration number AS-04BC-2516.
Meanwhile, on August 23, based on specific intelligence regarding illegal activities in general area PWD colony, Wokha, of Assam Rifles along with Police representative launched an operation and apprehended two persons.
Recoveries from the two persons who were identified as Vitoka and Abeni included 152 cases and 5 bottles of Mc Dowells Rum, 192 bottles of Mc Dowells Whisky, 96 bottles of Imperial Blue Whisky, 477 bottles of OC Blue Whisky and 29 cases of Kingfisher Beer bottles and cans, amounting to Rs 8,06,256.
The recovered items along with a Maruti 800 vehicle were handed over to Wokha police station for further investigation.
