Assembly Election: CEO gauges poll preparedness with departments

Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): The Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar has held meetings to assess election preparedness for the 2023 General Election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

According to press releases received here on Friday, a meeting with enforcement departments and agencies was held on November 25 for assessment of election preparedness and the ground situation.

The meeting which was chaired by the CEO V Shashank Shekhar, discussed the need for all concerned departments to thoroughly check unfair, unhealthy and illegal means like inflow of liquor, use of money power, etc., in order to conduct the Assembly elections freely and fairly.

Representatives from the State Police, State Excise Department, State Taxes Department, CISF (Dimapur Airport), Airport Authority, Dimapur Airport, IGAR (Assam Rifles), State Level Bankers Committee, and officers from the CEO office took part in the meeting.

The Election Commission of India will also be reviewing the election preparedness very soon with various departments/agencies, the release stated.

Meanwhile, the Office of the CEO also informed that a video conference with all the Deputy Commissioners and District Election Officers, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Superintendents of Police was also held on November 24, focussing on poll preparedness.

The CEO apprised all the DEOs and SPs by saying that thorough preparedness should be undertaken in all aspects relating to election. The State Police Additional DG, Renchamo Kikon who was also present in the video conference briefed about the requisition of CAPF, logistic arrangements, communication and deployment plan of security
 The DC & DEOs and SPs of each district also shared their preparation for the upcoming General Election and their concerns and issues, the release stated.
