Wokha, April 7 (MExN): A programme for distribution of aids and assistive devices to persons with disabilities and senior citizens was held at the Town Hall, Wokha on April 7.
The programme was organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and District Administration Wokha under the ADIP and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) schemes.
Extra Assistant Commissioner Sangmou Khiamniungan attended the programme as special guest and highlighted the role of senior citizens in guiding society. District Welfare Officer C James Ezung spoke on the importance of assistive devices in improving quality of life.
A total of 50 beneficiaries received items including wheelchairs, walking aids, hearing aids, and other assistive devices. The schemes aim to support independent living and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
