ASTD concerned by pace of govt’s combat against pandemic

DIMAPUR, MARCH 27 (MExN): The Ao SensoTelongjemDimapur (ASTD) has expressed concern at the lack of a testing facility for COVID-19 in the State and the shortage of ventilators, tools, kits and protective gears for health workers.

A press release from the ASTD stated that the Department of Health and Family Welfare should have the overall charge to oversee a system to monitor the effective implementation of the COVID-19 situation in this State.

It meanwhile stated that in the midst of the lockdown, the government needs to look into the plight of downtrodden families and those in far flung areas who depend on daily wages. To them, the ASTD suggested that the government should distribute essential commodities by engaging the village, ward, colony council.
