Ao Senso Telongjem Kiphire District (ASTKD) celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Hopongkyu Memorial hall Kiphire town under the theme 'Kum kum shiti' (Clarion call to renew), which was attended by tribal apex body Ao Senden, United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), various tribal unions from Kiphire town and well wishers from different walks of life. 


Gracing the occasion as the guest of honour, DC Sarita Yadav, IAS Kiphire congratulated ASTKD on achieving such a milestone saying that such celebration shows unity, progress and advancement. 


The DC urged upon the gathering to work together for common progress of the district and built upon the foundation that has been laid by the past leaders so that the vision envisioned can be achieved. 


She expressed hope that the members of ASTKD will continue to work for the common good of Kiphire district in different capacity as they have been doing it in the past and assured ASTKD of all support and co-operation from district administration. 


Also speaking on the occasion as the main speaker on the theme, Dr Moa Jamir asked the gathering to compare how Kiphire was 50 years back then and now, especially as Kiphire has been declared as an 'Aspirational District' and what change has been achieved so far. 


Pointing out the contributions of Aos towards the Naga society, he said that whatever “we have achieved is not because we deserve it but it was all God’s plan and the success we are celebrating today is because our past leaders has done something good in the eye of God.”


He further stated that one of the best thing Aos learned was salvation and that was how they spread all over Nagaland to spread the gospel and education. 


Stating that with blessing comes responsibility, Jamir, however pointed out that today people want only blessing not responsibility which Naga as a whole “has to wake up and revive ourselves from this culture.”


Giving a short speech, T Seopi Sangtam, President USLP said that Aos in Kiphire has come a long way and has made remarkable contribution to the district in all fields as the celebration of Golden Jubilee is a testament to it.

 
He pointed out in the past five decades, Sangtams and Aos has lived together as brothers and sisters which he said will be further cemented with the continuous help and co-operation between the two tribes. 


Mentioning that ASTKD has achieved what many could not, Sangtam said they have a lot to thank Ao brothers and sisters for spreading gospel and education in eastern region and hope that the good relation built by the past leaders will continue to blossom. 


He urged upon the gathering to learn and emulate good principles and value that our past leaders has shown us as the Naga society was dearly in need of truth and integrity. 


Delivering short speech on behalf of Ao Senden, I Imkong Jamir, Vice President expressed gratitude to Sangtam for extending help and support to ASTKD from the day the union was formed. He expressed optimism that the unique unity and co-operation will go a long way.
