
Visako Rino elected as new ASU president

The three day long 27th Biennial General Conference of the Angami Students' Union (ASU) concluded here this evening under the theme “Realistic Response.”
Speaking at the valedictory session, Er. Krosii Rhetso, Chief Engineer R&B Nagaland talked on "Affirmative Decision - Realistic Response" and said that any decision taken should be realistic and accomplished through hard work and commitment.
Noting the importance of affirmative decision, he advised the students to take proper decision. Once you have decided, “never never give up”, Er. Rhetso added.
He called upon the students to continue to struggle and face the various challenges ahead and become responsible men and women in the society.
He also called upon the students to be mentally prepared and at the same time work hard, study more and complete their assignments on time.
Stating that there are many challenges ahead and the situation of “Survival for the fittest” has come, he said “One must aim to become the champion”.
Earlier, Rev. Dr. Sanyii Iralu, Principal Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechiima spoke on "The call for Integrity - Realistic Response" during devotional service on the same day.
On the occasion, ASU outgoing president Dievi Yano and president elect Visako Rino also delivered short speech. Organizing Committee Convenor Kelhouneizo Yhome led the prize distribution on debate, extempore speech and volleyball held during the conference.
In men’s volleyball, WASU emerged as champions while SASU bagged runner-up. In women’s volleyball, WASU defeated NASU to win the championship trophy.
In debate, SASU, NASU, and SASU bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. In Extempore speech, CSA edged SASU to win first prize. Meanwhile, a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2017-19 was also announced by election commissioner Puthuto Natso with Visako Rino as President and Vizokho Zashiimo as general secretary.

Speaker – Kekhrievituo Dahou, Deputy Speaker – Teisovi Thorie, Assembly Secretary – Vizovo Yongo.
