Kohima, June 16 (MExN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) and Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) in a joint statement today stated that they were extremely alarmed by the exodus of Rengmas triggered by Karbi People Liberation Tiger’s (KPLT) threat and dictat. While extending its solidarity to the Rengma Naga at this time of great difficulties, ASU and CSU appealed to the conscience of the Karbi people and their civil societies of Assam & Nagaland to “activate a process to normalize this abnormal situation which otherwise possesses detrimental implications to destroy the very fabric of the age old mutual co-existence of the Nagas and Karbis.” “This appeal is made with all seriousness keeping in mind the vital factor to avoid far reaching consequences that may emerge out of this alarming exodus,” said ASU president Zakie Khate and CSU president Thupukutho Lohe in the statement.
