ASU edge NSF in exhibition match

Our Correspondent Kohima | October 16   As part of the ongoing 17th NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy, an exhibition between the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Angami Students’ Union was played here today with Neizokhotuo Belho, former General Secretary, NSF & Present Tribunal Member ASU as the Chief Guest.   The match was a nail biting encounter with end to end action as both teams took turns to attack and counter attack. And at the end of regulation time, the match had yielded 8 goals with both teams drawn 4-4.   ASU’s versatile striker Mego Ratsa (10) grabbed a hat trick within a span of 15 minutes scoring in the 10th, 15th, and 25th minutes. Diminutive striker Zekuseto (15) scored the fourth goal for ASU in the 52nd minute.   Trailing 3-0 in the first half, NSF came back strongly after the break with ex-NSF President Tongpang Ozukum, who played as a striker, scoring a hat-trick.   The equalizer finally came in the 67th minute when another ex-NSF President Kelhouneizo Yhome showed brilliant individual skills, dribbling past ASU defenders and finishing off coolly.   In the tie-breaker, ASU scored 9 goals while NSF could only manage 5. October 17 Quarter finals Senapati FC vs Nagaland Police (Blue) @ 12:00 pm Asufü Christian Institute vs Nagaland Police (Red) at 1:30 pm     ASU-KBA exhibition match on Oct 20 Kohima, October 16 (MExN): Another exhibition match will be played between senior leaders of Angami Students’ Union and Kohima Bar Association (KBA) at 10:00 am of October 20 at the Local Ground, Kohima as part of the ongoing 17th NSF Martyr’s Memorial Trophy.  According to a press release, the exhibition is also expected to bring in a rapport between the student community and the legal fraternity and will go a long way in bringing the two fraternities closer. Some ex players who had donned the state jersey in the past is expected to make a comeback and display their old trick, skills and styles, it added.   Speaking to media on Sunday both the teams exuded confidence that they would give the best to play and urged people to turn up for the exhibition match.   Senior student leader Neikho Shosahie said that he was happy to play with old comrades after many years and hoped the match would be a cracker spinning down to the wires.
