Kohima, November 13 (MExN): The Angami Students’ Union has reiterated various concerns towards students’ welfare. In a press release issued by the President Visako Rino and Vice-President Petekhrietuo Kiewhou, the Union has appealed educational institutions and concerned authorities to abstain from “imposing fines as corrective measures to any detained students but rather opt for alternative remedial means as facilitators of education.” It cautioned institutions that such practices “would invite austere consequence.” The release has also reminded teachers providing tuition to students “to comply with the norms set by the Union under the ‘Students Code’ through an earlier notification.” “Dropping and picking of students from Government registered vehicles is strictly discouraged,” it added. Further, in view of the End-Terminal examinations, the Union also earnestly appealed to all concerned, particularly the on-going construction works to “restrain themselves from using machineries after 6:00 pm to enable students of a study-friendly environment."
