ASU re-enforces total ban to all fund drive activities

Kohima, August17 (MExN): The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) re-affirmed its stand on the imposition of fund raising activities within its jurisdiction. “The Union’s stand on this is being reiterated at the behest of the general publics dwelling in and around Kohima Town,” the Union said in a release adding that in view of the unbecoming fashion of donation and random fund raising activities in and around Kohima town by petty and unscrupulous organizations and civil societies, decency and dignity of life is being held at stake.

In a random survey undertaken in this regard, the Union said, about a score of unregistered organizations/societies, from all parts of Nagaland comes to the Capital for fund drive/donations through various mediums, in about a single week time. These activities have taxed the citizens of Kohima to the extreme, it said.

Being the apex student’s organization at the Capital, ASU with support from the Angami Public frontal organizations, will enforce total blanket ban to all fund drive activities with immediate effect, the Union said.

According to the Union, activities that will come under the preview of the ban order include; Raffle/lottery tickets, buffet tickets, concert tickets, sale of calendar, sales day, donation receipts etc, and any other form of fund raising.

“The Union in the implementation of its resolution will keep a strict vigil on the streets. Business establishments/shops and individuals are directed not to entertain any such which is without the consent and approval of the Angmi Students’ Union office or the concerned state authority. Defaulters including any establishment or shops entertaining any such erring organization or Union (s) will be penalized,” the Union president Kelhouneizo Yhome and general secretary Voto Neikha said in a release Thursday. The release also added that any organization/Union/Club desiring to undertake any fund drive project, “must prior to initiating any plans, report to the Union’s office along with their details proposed project for necessary clearance, to avoid being impeded on the same thereafter.”
