Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): GBs of Sata range in Zunheboto today sought clarifications from the authorities in concern about the District Planning and Development Board of Zunheboto “forwarded to the higher authority for declaring Asuto Area under Suruhuto.”
The people of Asuto circle in general and Sata range in particular “solidly stand by their meeting resolution taken on October 10, 2008, whereby it has been resolved to remain under Aghunato ADC Hq/ sub-division at any cost,” a note from the from the Chairman and Secretary of Sata Rang GBs & Elders’ Union stated today.
The GBs took cognizance of the DPDB meeting on July 13, 2010 that reportedly deliberated and “forwarded to the higher authority for declaring Asuto area under Suruhuto.” “On scrutiny, it has been found that such agenda was not discussed or forwarded to the higher authority as such. Therefore, it has been found that it is only a misreport and misquotation whoever might have reported the issue to the press,” the note stated.
A copy of the minutes of the said DPDB of Zunheboto meeting was also enclosed.
The union said that “the people of Asuto circle in general and Sata range in particular solidly stand by their meeting resolution taken on October 10, 2008, whereby it has been resolved to remain under Aghunato ADC Hq./ Sub-Division at any cost.”
In their letter to the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto on October 10, the union had asserted that form “time immemorial all the people under Aghunato sub-division have been living together as an identical unit ethnically, demographically, socially and culturally.”
“…it is to inform the government and forewarn well in advance, to avoid all probable odd happenings that under such circumstances the people of Asuto circle in particular and Asuto circle in general will not remain a mute spectator and let them be bifurcated or trifurcated thereby breaking their invaluable social co-existence ever since ancient days. In the event of such incident the people of the said circle/range shall not be held responsible,” the letter had stated.
