DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The Aggrieved Teachers Association Nagaland (ATAN) has issued an ultimatum to the Chief Minister of Nagaland demanding for the implementation of the final report of Departmental Verification Report (DVC) on the wrongful/bogus appointment of teachers under the SIT findings and recommendations thereof and the immediate revocation of the abeyance order.
The letter to the CM issued by Vikato Swu, Convenor and Limayanger General Secretary ATAN put forward three demands i.e. revocation of Abeyance Order of the Cabinet and honoring C.M.’s assurance to ATAN; annulment of show cause notices of those who have already responded earlier and retained as per D.V.C and implementation of the D.V.C Final report approved by the Cabinet Vide CAB-2/2008 (pt) Dt. 21.03.2011 in our own original posting place and establishment. In the event of failure to accede to our above demands within ten (10) days from the date of submission, the letter stated that it shall be compelled to resume the hunger strike which was suspended on 14th Sept, 2010.
According to the letter, the Final Report on the Departmental Verification Committee (DVC) on the bogus/ wrongful appointment of teachers under the S.I.T with findings and recommendations was endorsed by the Department Dated the 19th March 2011 classified as ‘SECRET’ CABINET MEMORANDUM under the subject: “AGENDA FOR CONSIDERATION OF THE CABINET FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOL EDUCATION AND SCERT” and the same was approved by the Cabinet Vide No. CAB-2/2008 (pt) dated Kohima 21st March 2011.
According to the ATAN the Cabinet having given its approval for the Implementation of the recommendations of the DVC, the department had to only implement the same in toto. The ATAN stated that the recommendation of the DVC was for retention of teachers and that “to retain means to allow the teachers to REMAIN/ CONTINUE in the SAME POST against which they were originally appointed”.
“There is no scope for interpreting the meaning otherwise”, it stated and termed as unfortunate that the department “acted contrary to the specific recommendations of the D.V.C and the Cabinet approval thereon and has mindlessly and arbitrarily granted fresh appointments to all the teachers except the teachers whose services were recommended to be terminated, irrespective of the group in which they have been categorized by the DVC, under the SSA and RMSA Schemes, which rightly has resulted in the massive imbroglio leading the Govt. to lose face in the public eye and therefore, compelling it to keep the order issued by the Department in abeyance”.
