Dimapur, May 18 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur (Aghunaqa Block) conducted demonstration programme at Hozheto village on May 13. Resource person Sentibenla, ATM (Aghunaqa Block) spoke on the topic “Package practices of green gram (Moong)” and mentioned that the kharif crop is sown in June to July.
She highlighted that the crop needs good rainfall and manure with 25-40kg per ha of phosphorus (P2O5) and 25kg per ha of nitrogen (N) given at the time of sowing. Seed treatment with biofertilizer viz. Rhizobium at the rate of 25gram per kg of seed is also beneficial, she added. She also highlighted on pests like aphids, thrips, pod borer, diseases like mild dew and leaf spot and methods to control them.
Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Aghunaqa Block spoke on the topic “Package of Practices for Maize”. He elaborated on planting methods, nutrient, water and pests’ management. Maize seeds (HQPM-1) and green gram (Moong) PDM 139 variety were later distributed to the farmers.
