Dimapur, December 16 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur (Aghunaqa Block) conducted demonstration programme at Zutoi village on December 12. Resource person Chumyani Ovung, AFA, Department of Agriculture spoke on ‘Cultivation practices of garden pea, cole crops’ and ‘Pests management in winter vegetables’.
She elaborated on planting methods, sowing, treatment, tillage, nutrient and water management and pests’ management. ” She illustrated that farmers should practice crop rotations, intercropping and other cultural methods to control pests’ infection and not concentrate much on excessive use of pesticides.
Further, joint visit was conducted by ATMA and Agriculture dept. officials at the banana plantation and Integrated Fishery Farm at Zutoi village and farmers were given technical advises. During the programme, chaired by Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Aghunaqa Block, vegetables and pea seeds were distributed to the farmers.
