ATMA Akuluto connects with farmers through Community Supported Agri

Zunheboto, March 23 (MExN): ATMA Akuluto organised within district training on commercial vegetable cultivation under Community Supported Agriculture on March 21 at KVK Lumami.  

ATMA Akuluto in a press release informed that Community Supported Agriculture was initiated by the Department of Agriculture, Akuluto with the objective is to bring an innovative way to connect the farmers and consumers in and around Akuluto. The farmers can grow and sell their products at the best prices and this will boost the rural economy.  

Resource person, Edenly Chishi, SMS KVK spoke on crop calendar for different locally adapted crop and also taught on nursery preparation, planting, sowing and harvesting, seed rate and planting materials.  

I Lipokonen Jamir, SDAO and BTT Convener, ATMA Akuluto block said that under this the farmers shall be trained not only to produce but also to market. He mentioned that while the Department of Agriculture shall provide the farm inputs, the extension support shall be provided mainly by KVK Zunheboto and ATMA Akuluto block.  

Three SHGs from Alaphumi, Zaphumi A and Lumami village have been selected under CSA programme.  

Earlier the programme was chaired by Aolemla Kichu, BTM, welcome address by Dr. Rakesh Kr Chaurasia, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Zunheboto, while Concept and scope of CSA was delivered by I.Lipokonen Jamir SDAO and BTT Convener, ATMA Akuluto and vote of thanks by Joseph Awomi, ATM.  

Altogether 29 farmers’ representatives from PGSU (L), KVK, ATMA Akuluto and department of Agriculture staff Akuluto attended the training programme.
