ATMA Changtongya conduct series of agri-allied progs

Mokokchung, April 22 (MExN): A series of agri-allied programmes were initiated by ATMA Changtongya Block, Mokokchung in March and April with the aim to sanitize the farmers on new farming methods applied in the modern agricultural farming.  

On March 23, ATMA Changtongya Block led by the Block Technology Team, Convener Lochumo initiated the formation of a floriculture focus group called Naroyimsen with ten members. Toshirenla, Assistant Technology Manager was the resource person during the training on flora.  

On April 7, a clinic on organic farming was organised at Kilengmen village. The clinic was attended by 23 progressive farmers where Dr Toshimenla, BTM Ongpangkong North was the resource person. She underscored the importance of organic farming and demands of organic food items on global scale. They also conducted a capacity programme on King Chilly Cultivation for a Farmer Interested Group (FIG) - Nukla at Unger village on April 13. Deputy Project Director ATMA, Mokokchung Rongseninla was the resource person. A field demonstration on King Chilly Cultivation was also demonstrated by the resource person during the day long programme.  

Meanwhile, another farmer training on Swine Disease Management was conducted by Changtongya Block, Mokokchung at Unger village on April 20. Dr Aoyimsen from District Veterinary Department spoke on basic management of piggery, common diseases and their treatment.  

During a short interaction session between the resource person and the piggery farmers, there was an exchange of knowledge how the local piggery farmers treated the diseases using traditional methods and how far it is efficient enough to cure the disease. In this regard, the Doctor also shared his medical experts for the same disease. The training programme was attended by 40 piggery farmer.
