Dimapur, November 9 (MExN): ATMA Dhansiripar block conducted training and demonstration programme at Pimla village on November 7.
Resource person Mantick Jesuhu, Soil Surveyor, Department of Soil Conservation, Dimapur spoke on the topic ‘Soil health management and conservation.’
A press release received here stated Jesuhu addressed the participants that the soil will work for you if you work for the soil by using management practices that improve soil health and increase productivity.
Whereas, use of chemicals results in the loss of nutrients in soil. He explained on how to maintain soil health and the advantages of cropping system increase the soil fertility.
Jesuhu also introduced the participants on Soil Health Card Scheme launched by the Government of India - a tool for Agriculture Revolution which will carry crop-wise recommendations of nutrients and fertilizers required for the individual farms to help farmers to improve productivity through judicious use of inputs.
Further demonstration was conducted for the SHG members on ‘low cost vermi-composting’ by resource person Nrithung Lotha, Soil Conservation Assistant, Department of Soil Conservation, Dimapur.
The programme was attended by 20 members. Vermibed, earth worm and hand gloves were distributed.
