Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur, Medziphema block conducted a field day and training programme at Tsuma and Hekeshe village on November 6.


A press release from ATMA Dimapur stated during the training programme, resource person Ch Roben Singh, ACTO (Agronomy), KVK (ICAR) Jharnapani spoke on ‘Integrated Pest Management of Rabi crops - pulses and oilseeds’ where he highlighted on the components of IPM and different strategies for pest management such as resistant varieties, potential bio-control agents and other approaches for increasing the quality and quantity of pulses and oilseed crops. 


A field day on paddy variety Ranjit was conducted at harvest time at Tsuma village.


Discussions on different methods and techniques of rice cultivation, integrated nutrient management in paddy, pre-harvest treatment and plant protection measures were done. An interaction session was held where farmers actively participated and various queries were met. Further, training cum method demonstration on ‘biofertilizer application on chickpea variety K-851’ was conducted at Hekeshe village. The programme was followed by distribution of lentil seeds, gram, toria yellow sticky traps and biofertilizers to the participating farmers.
