ATMA Dimapur empowering educated unemployed youths

Dimapur, May 10 (MExN): One day farmer’s training cum demonstration on preservation of fruits and vegetables and mushroom cultivation was organized by ATMA Dimapur on May 2 at the State Horticulture Nursery Conference hall 4th mile Dimapur.

Altogether about 105 mostly educated unemployed youths along with ATMA officers participated the training and benefited with the new technological knowledge. In the opening session Nguzonyi Wetsah addressed the participants with the role of ATMA for extension reform through farmers training, field demonstration, farmers exposure trip, melas and exhibitions, farmers school etc.

Resource person V.Kenny SMS ICAR Jharnapani dwelt on the topic ‘Preservation of fruits and vegetables’ along with practical demonstration and mentioned of its importance for human life and its scope for self employment.

Another resource person Sashi HO stressed on importance of mushroom cultivation and also demonstrated the technical know how of Mushroom cultivation. He said mushroom is free from cholesterol which is very good food for diabetic and B.P patients and as such there is high market demand for mushroom in the country and abroad. The dried mushroom shelf life can go for one year in an airtight packet. Therefore mushroom cultivation and preservation can be taken as a potential self employment project especially for the youth and mothers.

N.Wetsah, DAO & P.D (ATMA) Dimapur in a press release said that the training programme was chaired by Chandan, Dy.Director Sericulture and Secretary ATMA Dimapur. Meanwhile farmer participants expressed their appreciation and gratefulness to ATMA Dimapur for organizing the training as they were highly benefited out of the programme.
