ATMA Dimapur trains rubber and fish farmers

Dimapur: Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Dimapur, Dhansiripar block conducted training cum demonstration for rubber and fishery farmers on March 25.

Sentinaro Longchar Block Technology Manager, Dhansiripar block, Dimapur in a press release stated that Aoyanger Imsong, WDT & BTT Dhansiripar block presented a power point on “management of rubber cultivation” and illustrated the system of secondary rubber management and method of rubber plantation. He gave a brief demonstration on selection of polythene bag, how to rise budded stumps in poly bags, filling of soil in poly bag, land preparation, pit preparation and planting method. He also showed the farmers how to differentiate false shoot sprouting from the stock which has to be removed and that regular inspection should be made to make sure that only one vigorous shoot is allowed to grow.

The resource person for “fish pond preparation” and “measures to prevent fish diseases” was Sangponochet, AFI & BTT member. The resource person explained in brief the various sizes of ponds required for rearing different stages of fish, pre and post stocking of pond management, species combination and  fish feeding. He also stressed on some of the common fish diseases that have been tormenting the aquaculturists, their symptoms and their control/remedial measures.

Ronchamo, AO & BTT convenor, Dhansiripar block, chaired the programme. Altogether 40 participants from different villages of Dhansiripar block attended the demonstration programme.
