ATMA Dmp, NBHM hold training on scientific beekeeping

Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur organized within state farmers training programme on “Scientific Beekeeping” in collaboration with Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) on July 2. The training was conducted with the objective to create awareness on beekeeping and bee culture and to encourage the participants to take up beekeeping, as it requires small start up investment and in return provides nutrition, medicine, a good source of income and strengthen livelihood. Deputy Project Director, ATMA Dimapur in a press release stated the technical training session aimed at importance of beekeeping, rearing practice and seasonal routine management.


Topics emphasized to the trainees included introduction to bees and beekeeping, beekeeping equipment and site selection, seasonal and routine management, importance of bees in pollination and its biodiversity conservation.


During the practical session, demonstrations were given on how to work with brood and super chamber, identify caste of bees, uniting and division of colonies etc. Resource persons were Bokali, Nitoshe, Letgong Patrick,Neilazono and Francis, NBHM team members. The programme was chaired by Tonikali Achumi Deputy Project Director, ATMA. Altogether 13 ATMA Self Help Groups and Food Security Groups from Niuland, Aghunaqa, Kuhuboto, Chumukedima, Medziphema and Dhansiripar blocks participated in the programme.
