Dimapur, June 20 (DIPR): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Kohima organised three day exposure visit starting from June 7 to 9 to Medziphema and Dimapur. The team consisting of 6 ATMA Officials and 14 farmers from various blocks visited SASRD, Central Institute of Horticulture Medziphema, ICAR Jharnapani, Nagaland Bee Keeping and Honey Mission, Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, Dimapur.
On the first day the team visited the Research Project on piggery under the Department of Livestock Production and Management SASRD, NU, where a Research Associate member gave instructions on the Management and feeding methods. The team then proceeded to tissue lab under the Department of Horticulture led by the Farm In-charge, the purpose of tissue culture and its advantages on various horticulture crops were highlighted. Various farms under the department which were under cultivation were also visited. Information on Diseases and Pest Management on various crops was shared by the manager.
On the second day, the team led by Senior Farm Manager, CIH, Medziphema visited various horticulture crops grown such as mango, tomato, king chilli, guava and rose farms. The team then proceeded to ICAR, Jharnapani and visited the various livestock projects and the organic farms led by Scientist in-charge under the Research Project.
The team visited NBRC Dimapur on the 3rd day where various ongoing activities on production of Bamboo products were shown to the farmers. The team also visited NBHM and gain valuable informations.
