Dimapur, January 15 (Mexn): Ghathashi Block under Zunheboto district conducted Field day on Chemical-free land preparation for high quality yield at Ghokimi village on January 13, an ATMA press note informed. During the same, resource person Tiarenla ATM Ghathashi explained the different techniques of land preparation and stressed on using of Farm Yard Manure (FYM) in preparing of the same, it said.
She also briefed the farmers on vermicomposting technique and stressed on how SHG’s could generate income from the same, it added besides conducting a demonstration on raising nursery bed for peas as well as cabbage. Altogether 21 farmers attended the programme and seeds of peas and cabbage were distributed to members of different SHG’s. In another function, Field day on citrus orchard management was held at Kitami village on January 14 where Hutoka BTM Ghathashi stressed on the different management activities in raising of orange plantations.
Management activities such as spacing, timely thinning of plants as well as tackling of different diseases and pests were imparted during the same.
On field demonstration on the preparation of Bordeaux paste and mixture were carried out by him along with Yatetla ATM Ghatashi.
A total of 14 orange cultivators from the village and neighbouring village attended the programme wherein Copper sulphate and agri-lime were distributed, ATMA press note further informed.
