Zunheboto, July 8 (MExN): ATMA Ghathashi Block, Zunheboto district conducted district level training on Integrated Pest management (IPM) and demonstration on SRI (System of Rice Intensification) at Kichilimi village on June 17.
Resource person Toivi SDAO, Pughoboto gave a detailed lecture on the different insects that were considered as pests and others being farmer friendly. SRI technique was demonstrated by Hutoka BTM. A total of 28 farmers attended the training programme.
Demonstration programme on value addition and processing of agricultural products was also held on June 20 at SDAO office, Pughoboto. The programme was initiated by Hutoka BTM Ghathashi block.
During the programme keynote address was made by Toivi SDAO, Pughoboto.
Resource person Tiarenla Jamir SMS demonstrated the making of chilly and lemon pickle, she also discussed about the importance of food preservation and value addition of agricultural crops.
Altogether 25 women belonging to 5 group of SHG’s attended and participated in the demonstration programme.
SRI demonstration was also held at Mukalimi village on June 23. Resource person Toivi SDAO, Pughoboto demonstrated on the SRI technique by involving the farmers in the demonstration, he also explained the benefits of SRI to the farmers. A total of 15 farmers attended the demonstration programme.
