Mokokchung, April 22 (MExN): Farm method demonstration programme on ‘Package and Practices of Improved Maize Variety’ was held on April 18 at Yimchalu village.
Resource person, Renbomo Ngullie demonstrated the method of line sowing, maintenance of optimum spacing and mulching techniques. He further highlighted on the importance of nutrient management and soil moisture conservation for increased production.
Fruitful interaction with suitable suggestions given by the research scientist on queries raised by the farmers continued during the program. Maize seeds of improved variety were later distributed to the farmers.
Capacity building programme on ‘Production Technology of Oyster Mushroom’ for Farmer Interest Groups (FIGs) at Longjang village was also held on April 19. Importance of group approach as a key ingredient towards sustainable farming and in achieving self sufficiency was also emphasized to the farmers during the programme.
