ATMA Kohima Block organises field day

Kohima, August 4 (MExN): ATMA Kohima Block organised a field day on soil and water conservation at Chedema model village on August 1 under PMKSY (Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana)  

The programme included visit to the farmers’ field. After the field inspection, the resource person for the programme, Rokoutuono Phira, ATM, ATMA Kohima Block briefed the farmers about the importance of soil and water conservation which can be done by practising crop rotation, intercropping, mulching, contour bunding and terracing. In the field, it was observed that the farmers where successfully practising crop rotation and intercropping the resource person encouraged the farmers to also practised the mulching and counter bunding to conserve the soil and water. This was followed by an interaction session between the participants: and the participants and the functionaries.  

The field day was attended by fourteen farmers, farmer friend of the village and two ATMA functionaries.
