ATMA Kohima blocks promote ‘Homestead Entrepreneurship’

Kohima, April 14 (MExN): Women constitute 47% of Nagaland state’s population and constitute more than 70 % of the total work force in agriculture. Keeping this in mind ATMA Chiephobouzo, Jakhama and Kohima blocks organized training on ‘Homestead entrepreneurship’ on April 14, especially for the women farmers so that they can be encouraged to enhance their entrepreneurship skills with the available resources at the homestead level for their sustenance.  

A press release stated here that the resource person, Kethoneilhou Vimera, AO II, Department of Agriculture highlighted on the basic qualities that are necessary to become a successful agripreneur. He also shared with the farmers the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of agriculture in Nagaland and the required recommendations so that farmers can turn agriculture into a profitable venture. The resource person stressed on turning agriculture and allied activities into a demand and market driven activities for their sustainability so that it can lay the foundation for a sound economy.  

The resource person highlighted the food crops, fruits and other agro based activities that farmers can grow and engage in at the homestead level to turn them into successful enterprises .  

The technical session was followed by an interaction session. Altogether 36 farmers from five different villages of Kohima district attended and benefitted from the training.
