ATMA- Kohima confers Farmers Award 2010-11

Kohima, March 13 (MExN): Several farmers have been conferred with Farmers Award by ATMA Kohima for the year 2010-11 at a function held at Hotel Japfu here last week. The objective of the award is to encourage farmers for enhancing overall agricultural production keeping “food for All” vision in view of the adoption of modern technology with improved packaged and practices.
The awardees in the field of agriculture include; best rice producer farmer- Kevingolie Thami- Kezo Basa, highest producer of QPM maize- Zanuo Krotho, Teichüma village, highest producer of jobstear/millet- Tsüpuo Krotho, Chiechama, highest producer of pulses (rice bean)- Chasalhuo, Kijumetuoma, best potato farmer - Zavikhoto, Kigwema and highest producer of oil seeds (sunflower)- Pfhengulie, Mima.
Veterinary & Animal Husbandry: Highest milk producer- Kevidil Naleo, Khuzama, best Piggery- Aphino Mor, Khonoma. Fishery: Best paddy-cum- fish culture- Neitsolie, Tsiemekhuma Bawe, best managed fishery pond- Methahetuo Chase, Khonoma.
Horticulture: Highest vegetable producer (Garlic)- Dziezehiü, Khonoma, best maintained orchard (orange)- Dziesengulie, Tuophema and Hyunilo Rengma, Sendenyu, Tseminyu chairman, Orange Farm Sendenyu. Land Resources: Best functional SHG: Khrietho Self Help Group, Meriema. Sericulture: Highest Cocoon producer- Amenuo, Tsiesema, best maintained sericulture garden- Kechangulie Medom, Chedema and Lily Tep, Terogunyu, Tseminyu. Soil & Water Conservation: Best soil conservation measure adopted farmer- Zukiya Woch, Chunlikha and best water harvesting pond- Sohie Keditsü, D. Khel.
