Dimapur, July 13 (MExN): ATMA Medziphema block conducted a capacity building and skill development programme on ‘Value addition of pineapple and jackfruit’ at Ruzaphema village on July 10.
With an aim to sensitize and create awareness on the potential of fruits such as jackfruit and pineapple, the training was held for the women SHG groups to upgrade their skills and for their economic upliftment. Seeing the huge waste and enormous nutritional drain and being commercially under-exploited, awareness was created about the significance of value addition for jackfruit and pineapple, a press release from the ATMA Medziphema block informed.
The technical session was held with hands-on demonstration on the preparation of pineapple jam with Rovizelhou Kuotsu, ATM, Medziphema block as the resource person and preparation of jackfruit chips by BTM, Chubanaro Jamir.
The training was based on learning by doing with 20 women farmers from 11 SHG groups in participation.
Later, a field day at the ‘Pineapple farm school’, Ruzaphema village was also conducted with E Lireni Kikon, ACTO (Plant Protection), KVK (ICAR) Jharnapani and BTT Convenor, Medziphema block as the resource person.
