Medziphema, November 7 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur, Medziphema block conducted a demonstration and mobilization of farmers group at Molvom and Bungsang villages on November 5.
BTM Medziphema Block, Chubanaro Jamir gave a brief introduction on the primary purpose of SHGs and sensitized the women farmers on the roles and functioning of SHGs at Molvom village. She elaborated on the importance of good record keeping and encouraged the members to establish linkages and networking with the banks and other department.
James Kikon, ACTO, KVK (ICAR) & BTT convener called upon the women SHGs to work harder on various activities to uplift the economy and livelihood among their members. He stressed on the importance of building trust within the group and maintaining transparency. He also emphasized on building their leadership skills and self reliance.
A demonstration on “Cultivation practices of arhar intercropped with pineapple” and “Nursery seed bed preparation of cabbage”, were carried out.
Later, a demonstration on “ Line sowing of All round variety of maize” and “Direct sowing method of field pea intercropped with pineapple” was done at Bungsang village. Altogether 34 SHG members participated from both the villages. Winter vegetable seeds were distributed to all the participants, a press release from ATMA, Medziphema informed.
