Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): The ATMA Dimapur, Niuland block conducted a demonstration program on “Cultivation practices on Mustard and Field pea” at Niuland town on November 8 to women farmers of Achipi SHG. Resource person James Kikon, ACTO, KVK (ICAR) carried out the demonstration and advised the farmers to maintain the recommended spacing while sowing to achieve optimum yield while also reducing the amount of seed needed. Later, a demonstration on package of practices of field pea was also carried out. On being queried about the use of vermicompost in the demonstration field, the resource person apprised the participants about the slow nature of release of nutrients from vermicompost and organic soil amendments as a whole and demonstrated the correct method of incorporating it in the soil.
