
Mokokchung, June 14 (MExN): ATMA Ongpangkong South block organised a visit to Sütep Lenden Farm, Longkong Village on June 9 as part of Kisan Goshti with an objective to expose the farmers to new ideas and innovations, facilitating them in learning different farming practices. The farmers were exposed to Imnatoshi Longkumer’s farm, a progressive farmer from Longkong village who has its own bio-gas plant ,hydro-generator, tapioca grinding machine all made indigenously by him.
His multi-purpose farm consists of integrated mixed farming viz: horticulture, livestock, fishery etc which is an inspiration to the other farmers that associates with innovative farming for more economic sustainability.
A press note informed that the team was led by Talimeren (AHO), two ATMA functionaries. Altogether 10 farmers under Ongpangkong South Block attended the programme.
Meanwhile, ATMA Ongpangkong South block conducted a demonstration on Oyster Mushroom Cultivation at District Horticulture Office, Mokokchung on June 12 with Imchalemla Assistant Horticulture Officer (AHO) as the resource person. She gave the farmers hands on live demonstration on the package and practices of mushroom cultivation and also briefed them on the precautions and measures to be taken in mushroom cultivation.
Mushroom spawns and polybags were distributed to all the participants.
