Peren, July 29 (MExN): With an aim to boost awareness and expose the farmers to new ideas of agricultural practises on irrigation and water harvesting, ATMA Peren undertook a within State farmer’s exposure tour to ICAR Jharnapani & CIH Medziphema under PMKSY on July 28.
The team was led by Two Deputy Project Director’s of ATMA Peren. The team visited various research farms at ICAR KVK & Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH). During the visit to farm the Farm Manager explained on different water harvesting structures and its purposes like Jalkund, Cemented structured, Fishery cum water harvesting tanks etc. Different methods on technique and importance of irrigation like drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation etc was also demonstrated to farmers and highlighted the wise use of Irrigation water management and explained in brief the uses to apply the amount of water needed by the crop. In order to improve irrigation efficiency on the farm, four things was highlighted to farmers such as know your crop, know your soils, know your water, know your field. Also, Farmers were also taken to vermi-compost, livestock unit, floriculture unit, fruits plantation like guava and banana plantation, nursery unit, grafting etc. Altogether two ATMA officials and 10 farmers attended the tour programme.
