
Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): With a view of taking technology to the doorsteps of farmers residing in the interior areas of the district, a District Level Exhibition-cum-Input Dealer linkage was organised and sponsored by ATMA, Phek on May 2 at Meluri town.
The participating departments were Agri, Horti, LRD, KVK and four ATMA SHGs-Rise and Shine & Tseshü SHGs from Meluri town and Lirhuwe & Razhuwe SHGs from Losa-tephe village.
Six stalls exhibited items such as improved tools and implements, machineries, bee-keeping kits, handicrafts and cane products, handloom products, local banana chips, puffed rice, dried gooseberry, Naga dal and homemade biscuits. An information dissemination section was put up to distribute folders compiled by ATMA-Phek and KVK Porba, Phek.
The main highlight of the programme was the sales of agricultural tools and implements on subsidised rates to help farmers of that area to get in touch with changing trends in the Agri. and allied sectors and creating a farmer-input-dealer linkage. Items sold on subsidised rate were knapsack sprayers, secateurs, plastic sealers, pruning saw, maize shellers, hand pump sprayers, plastic flower pots, watering cans, Iron garden rakes, shovels, net shade and mushroom spawn.
The programme was supplemented by a demonstration on modern tools and implements (pit driller, weed cutter).
Hewoto Sema, DAO & AMC member; Dr. Mao Walling, DHO & PD ATMA Phek; Sanuzo, SDAO & BTT convener Meluri block; Neiku, AO & BTT convener Phek block; Elias, AHO & BTT convener Pfutsero block; KVK, Phek; WDT, LRD and a host of Agri, ATMA functionaries and farmers from three villages- Akhegwo, Lephori and Meluri participated in the program.
